Warlick Warriors Final Recommendations

Assessment

Require each student to maintain a K-12 e-portfolio of their learning that MUST show evidence of accomplishing 21st century skills. ePortfolios will be scored using rubrics based on state standards that have been aligned to national content standards and are tied to ISTE NETS-S.

Broadband

Mandate a large portion of the newly released analog spectrum be allocated for wireless access for education, and incent development of applications for mesh network protocols for portable devices (i.e. phones, iPods, computers, etc.)

Individualized Instruction

By 2011, every school in every district will be using data teams to implement a continuous improvement cycle using data to inform instructional practice and personalized learning for each student.

Online Courseware

By 2012, all secondary schools will offer 10% of their courses online and 25% of all brick and mortar courses will include an online component.

Professional Development

Create a virtual environment that allows educators to communicate and share best practices.

STEM Education

Solicit K-12 classes and educators to collaborate with University and industry to develop solutions to current real-world renewable resource problems at regional, state and national levels with endowed public and private partnership funding established by 2010.

Systemic Reform Models

Implement a targeted specific PD for administrative and teachers correlated to digital content and student performance indicators.
